I should like to see enforcement of vehicle speed limits in Bridge of Earn. Many vehicles are being driven at speeds well over 45/50 MPH, particularly in my experience in Edinburgh Road, Wicks o'Baiglie Road and Kintillo Road.

At some times over the weekend, a pedestrian needs an Olympic standard of sprinting fitness to cross Edinburgh Road safely !.

Suggestion

1. Speed Cameras were installed - even temporarily.

2. Police monitoring was carried out regularly.

3. Speed management "road humps" were put in place.

Police Response: Re: Speeding In Bridge Of Earn

Dear Jonobr

Thanks for you post.

I am aware of issues surrounding speeding in the village and between my colleagues and myself we carry out regular speed checks at various times of the day and night. I can personally speak to issuing a number of fixed penalty conditional offers to motorists over my time as the Bridge of Earn Community Officer. This is something that I will continue to monitor and take action where necessary.

Unfortunately though our speed checks a just a short term solution and the real problem is a general lack of care and consideration from motorists This however is not going to change overnight.

With regards to your suggestions we will continue to carry out our checks and I will highlight your concerns to my colleagues.

Any speed management measures would need to be put in place by P&K Council. I would suggest you raise the matter with the Roads Department, your local Councillor and the Community Council.

Regards
